NIMOS BAUD, which of course means Nemos Bod, which if you watch Finding Nemo, you know of course this means he has a bad fin.
Bad fin rhymes with Bad Twin. And this doesn't mean the book. This of course means the least talented fo the NKOTB people.

Subdomain....aren't that hard to find....even if they several web servers....Gee would have had to hack not only a DNS server but a web server to first setup the website and then the DNS server to create the new subdomain. So why hasn't the admin TLE checked into that first. Would have been the first thing I did if I had been hacked.

What you need to do is a lookup on all those possiblities...not just type it into your web browser. Cuz just typing it in could return a result like the domain does not exists yet...by not having the code in the webserver yet....by code I mean html....php....ASP..etc. However if you do a nslookup...and it came back with a reply...then that means the domain exists and is ready for use as soon as the server is.

I am thinking, that we will be doing this in vain. We need to know of what site first. You can plug stuff in until you are blue in the face, but even if you were right, there is no way to tell if it is even active. This has been the case all along in this ARG. I hate it but it is what it is.

If this was in-game, we'd have a jeep ad by now.
As a systems administrator of 12 years, I'd like to say this is all a bunch of bull -OR- the TLE admins are some of the most incompetent around.
If someone really did hack your site, it should be taken down. You're collecting personal information such as e-mail addresses, you would be at the point now where you need a lawyer to find out whether you need to start contacting people about their private data being compromised.
In my opinion, this is nothing but a slightly clever way for TLE to try and get linked from other experience websites to drive up traffic.
Shame on you.

Hopefully we'll get a new glyph & fragment code out of it. Maybe #42?

tle_lurker: What you said pretty much proves it IS ingame. If they were really hacked, the site would be taken down, etc. But, just the fact that other blogs (ITE, TLEC) and even Savejoop have become ingame, I think, is enough proof the TLE.com has too.

I wouldn't go so far as to saying that TLEC or SaveJoop are "in-game". I think you could say that Rachel has included them in her pursuit of the truth about The Hanso Foundation. They are just following Rachel's lead and are only as useful as she periodically allows them to be.

The admins of this site are NOT "the dumbest admins ever". They've been following the show LOST and The Hanso Foundation longer and more intently than most of the rest of us. They must be allowing this hacker to continue FOR A REASON.

The letters are an anagram for Subdomain. Think about it logically, have we seen/used any subdomains in the ARG yet? Yes, we have, http://persephone.thehansofoundation.org.
Also, in relation to the backwards image that has been replaced here. It's quite obviously a hint that something may need to be flipped to get the goods.
Lastly the name 'Gee' seems fairly close to 'G', which was left in the 'Where's Alvar?' hack on May 8th. This is a quote from one of the comment threads on TLEC by a guy called 'Engineer27'. Is it possible that 'G' = 'Gee'
[STARTQUOTE]
engineer27 said...
Sorry to distract everyone from the talk of glyphs and codes, but I want to return for a
moment to actually discussing what the clues we have might mean.
If you think back to the "where is alvar" hack that we saw when we clicked
"October 28, 2003" under alvar's picture(Clue #27 at TLEC), you'll recall
that if you were patient enough to let the hack play out, you got some morse code with a
flashing dot.
I now think that the morse code at the end was a message to Persephone/Rachel from
GidgetGirl/Darla, perhaps delivered by IronMan/Fixer/ITGuy. The hack then becomes a sort of
conversation, thus:
Rachel: Where is Alvar Hanso?
Darla: Safe -- G.
"G" for Gidget, of course.
So Darla either knows where he is, or at the very least knows for sure that he is
somewhere safe, and more importantly, that there is some danger that he needs to be safe
from. TWM, perhaps?

Hey Lostpedian, I'm guessing the anagram is not that imnportant since it is only one part of the puzzle. And on the other hand, ANYBODY could have solved it easily once the final letter came out by sticking the letters into an anagram solver. If you had guessed it before the final letter, I would have been impressed. But assuming you are correct, all it proves is you were camped out here waiting for the last letter so you could feed it into a solver. BTW, stand in the middle of the comments and look around you. Lostpedian seems determined to make an ass out of himself wherever he goes. He constantly does it on The Site Formerly Known as The Tailsection (should we call it TSFKATTS?)...he would go so far as to repeatedly yell at, and then report several times, anyone who was even talking about a site he thought was "not in-game". He should have had his fill of humble pie when it turned out that Mandrake's My Space page (one he was most vocal about) was in fact in-game but apparantly his appetite for that particular dish is insatiable!

Hey, I'm a newbie, but I thought that I would point out another possible solution to the anagram: "ad omnibus." It means by all people and is part of the phrase "Quod Ubique , Quod Semper , Quod ad Omnibus: "everywhere, always, and by all. Traditionally, it's used as definition of what determines catholicity or universality of a Christian doctrine. If sursum corda is on the blast door map, I wouldn't be surprised to see this phrase as well. Or it could just be subdomain.

Think about this for a second... if I was the one behind this, which I'm not but hey I can play make believe, then infact there would never have been a hacking, therefore there would never have been a reward. Let me put this to you another way: is your next mission in life to sue George Lucas because after eight hard months of growing that padawan braid, you still can't get in touch with Yoda? If this is FICTION, as you claim, then the reward was FICTION as well. But somehow, I doubt you have a firm enough grasp on reality to understand what I'm saying to you. CONFIDENTIAL MEMORANDUM
TO: Dr. Hackett
Apollo Candy
FROM: G. Downs
Engineering Development Center
Atlanta, GA
Date: July 21, 2004
RE: Test Study
Dr. Hackett,
Initial research shows release of the psychotropic compound to be
a success. The acid and flavoring agents of the beverage disguise the
taste. More tests are necessary to reach optimum viral spread. My superiors are eager for you to join our effort, once you have extricated
yourself from your current situationn.

I think Gee is mel0drama from a coversation with rachel about dr hackett who is a chemist for apollo candy. Dr hackett worked at the EDC - Engineering Development Center in 1988 & 2006. I've tried a few subdomains with his name but no luck as of yet.

I'd also observe that the backwards clue was probably related to the user acount name on flikr. Again you probably all know this but its easy to glance over stuff here, 200 comments is a lot for this wee column :) Good work folks, really enjoying the game so far! *goes back to lurking*

Sorry to barge in with my two cents - I just wanted to point out that omnibus is a type of advertising. As opposed to target advertising, omnibus advertising tries to reach a broad population (ie, a big promotional campaign like, say, Apollo is doing with their giveaway tour). An omnibus ad is itself also a type of ad. Probably nothing, but I wanted to pipe up just in case.

a page about Beowulf http://aspirations.english.cam.ac.uk/converse/essays/english/middle_english2.acds
quote from this page: In fact, these lines are from Beowulf, a great poem from the 11th century, and this description is the first time that Grendel, a monster, is described. This is how it might run in modern English:
Grendel this monster grim was called,
march-riever mighty, in moorland living,

Found this by going through the FAQ at the Velenzetti site. He has a link at the bottom to "Caroline", which has a link to "My favorite author". That site about S.K. Nave has a list of books (including "Here There Be Dragons" which was written on the blast door on the show) and a biography. In the biography, there is a link about "crackpots" and then on that page is a link about "Michael Sontag". On that page is a link to "Michael Sontag" again, which shows his personal page. The ISBN barcode there is for Fantasia (the Disney film) and if you select-all on his page, it reveals text that says "Stephenson was wrong. There are five. He missed weapons." and some morse code. Using a java translator, the morse code says: "EMAIL GRENDEL AT GLOBALPARADIGMSCORP DOT COM TO FIND HIS CAGE". I have emailed that address, but haven't received a response yet.

I located at least one "Beowulf" reference from "Bad Twin." It's part of a description of Manny Weissman on page 23.
"He'd toured Iron Age Babylonia through the epic of Gilgamesh, literature's first great buddy-story; through Beowulf he'd seen the England of the Druids and felt the hero's courage in confronting the monster on whom people projected their deepest fears."

The only thing that most are in total agreement about is that the execution of this apparent glyph hunt sucks. If there really is a glyph hunt, waiting days for lame anagrams and cyphers is tedious - all for about 3.2 seconds of video. If there is no glyph, then TLE.com is stringing us along to just increase their exposure and ad revenue.

“Occasionally, a trusted, working farm dog would develop the bad habit of taking eggs from nests and eating them, turning himself from asset into liability.” So it is just possible that the expression might be a figurative extension from that of a dog found with egg around its muzzle, mute evidence of depravity.
So yes, I'd say that ROT is a good place to keep checking.

I don't understand the egg-ROT connection being made. Late last night someone named "Egg" slammed this fun little hunt adn then said to check the ROT board. I was quite certain that "Egg" was the recently banned Lostpedian and the egg reference was referring back to one of Gee's posts in which he says skeptics will have egg on their faces.
As for him mentioning ROT, it was "Have you checked...lately?" There haven't been any changes so I asked him what he meant. He never answered. I think he is just screwing with us because there doesn't seem to be any real connection to the ROT forum and anything we have seen here. That dog muzzle thing is reaching, in my opinion. And besides that, the whole dog part is a front that is Hanso approved. Why would they risk Hanso figuring it out by placing a clue on the public page. I really think that was just a misdirect from a bitter little boy.
To PostDenial...I think most people would totally disagree with you that "the execution of this apparent glyph hunt sucks". Most people have complained at length about how dull it is to just be handed the glyphs. If this is indeed a glyph hunt, it is just what the majority of players have literally been asking for. If it is something more important than a single glyph, all the better. Even if it is just a very savvy player having a bit of a go at us, at least it has been something to occupy us while we wait to be spoonfed the next glyph.

"Subdomain....aren't that hard to find....even if they several web servers....Gee would have had to hack not only a DNS server but a web server to first setup the website and then the DNS server to create the new subdomain."
That is untrue. You would only require access to the webserver. There is something called a virtualhost which doesn't require any extra dns.

Dawn et al:
The general consensus is that the cryptogram trnaslates to "This monster grim was called", a quote from Beowulf that refers to the mythological beastie Grendel. So this could be Gee's "name", which is the "key" to open a lock we haven't found yet.

the religious & biblical references overwhelem the literary ones in his posts by a slim margin. most of the "contrast" words are embedded in religious references. beowulf is an interesting blend of pagan and christian references and a glaring light dark study.

August 22, 2006 4:53 PM
So hmm, actually, maybe the key isn't' Grendel at all, but Beowulf. We find that the clue points to Grendel, but taking into account the backwards-ness, maybe it points to Beowulf instead.

Xmozz was all over the contrast light/dark stuff. Maybe he will have a thought on why Grendel and not Beowulf. Maybe he is painting the picture from our perspective? The assumption is that if you are a hacker you are up to no good, that you are bad and destructive. Maybe he is playing with that.
It has been years since I read Beowulf...what actually happens; what are the fates of Beowulf and Grendel in the end? Maybe the clue is there...or he is playing Grendel to the Hanso Foundation's (self-appointed hero) Beowulf. They certainly think that they are the good guys and that their hacker, P., was evil. It all depends on perspective.

I think that the use of "Gee" is confirmation that it is Grendal, not Beowulf, that is the key.
The quote about the truth is: Our mutual friend is in a tough spot. Trying to get the truth out while keeping it hidden at the same time. Try pondering those contrasting ideas.
Can someone kind of sum up the relevent part of the poem for those of us who have not read it in a long time or at all?

Quick Beowulf recap:
Grendel is monster who invades Heorot, the hall of Hrothgar. Hrothgar calls Beowulf, a hero, to save him. Beowulf fights Grendel (without weapons, because the monster uses no weapons) and rips off his arm. Grendel runs home to Mommy (literally). Beowulf chases him, dives to the bottom of a swamp, and kills grendel's mommy. Grendel has died from loss of blood beowulf takes Grendel's head as a trophy. Large break in manuscript. Beowulf is now an old king and has to fight a dragon that is terrorizing his kingdom. Beowulf kills dragon but dies in the process, like a hero.
