I'd like to request that somebody resists the temptation to gorge themselves on these psychotropically enhanced candy bars o' goodness and take a few snapshots of them, then post them up here and at TLEC. There are alot of us who won't be able to get our hands on one. Thanks!

but seriously, I'm not really sure what's going on with the candy bars. I won't be able to get mine until next week in Santa Monica. I have to think though that it wouldn't be something as generic as the same url on all the candy bars. What would the incentive be to everyone who isn't able to get it today?? I mean, it would be cool, don't get me wrong, but I just hope they do something a little cooler and more individual than that. I mean, it's only a limited amount, right? So why not do something on a more individual level for once.

Part of me hopes that all the candy bars are exactly the same, with the same information on them, since I live in one of those states that never gets any of these kinds of things.
But part of me also hopes there's interesting information on each group of candy bars. However, the trouble is--especially with the ones piggy backing on the Acura tour--how many people will get them who aren't interested in Lost, or who are, but aren't following the web game. This makes me think that they all will be pretty generic, just to make sure the information gets out to whoever needs it.
I dunno. Maybe I'm just bitter I can't get one. :)

I'm thinking it's not gonna just be an URL for every bar... There's got to be something to do on the website once you get there, and I think that something (the wrapper, the chocolate bar, a golden ticket?) will help a certain few out... Probably a limited number of special ones per location, the rest with just the URL. Since the website is whereisalvar.com, maybe people could get something to, well, help us figure out where the heck he is?!

I wonder if whereisalvar.com is going to be the new site for entering codes. There was that picture on Flickr yesterday (which has yet to varified, so take it for what its worth) where Rachel said that the HE.com site was no longer secure, or something to that effect, and that we might be getting a new site for the video clips. If it is true and we do get a new site, I would bet that they are doing to due to all of the complaints about how buggy the site is.

August 23, 2006 7:13 PM
Yeah, LG. If that's the way it is, though, I hope there is some way to use your username and such and just bring over all your files that you've got saved on HE, so you don't have to enter all of them in again. And arrange them again. The very prospect makes me....
Posted by:
KJ |
August 23, 2006 7:14 PM
LG, the stats page that was temporarily up had different parameters than HE.com.
I think it's a whole new thing.
Posted by:
vexingmodstwo |
August 23, 2006 7:22 PM
Well unless you are using Glyphomatic, your fragment order gets screwed up every other time you logon anyways. But having to enter in all those codes again WOULD be a big ol' pain in the ass. If it is the case that we are switching, then I hope TPTB figure out a way to have the data transfer. You would think that they would do so, but you never know with this ARG (I feel like a pirate every time I say/type that!)
Posted by:
lost_grrl |
August 23, 2006 7:23 PM
Well, whereisalvar.com now has a secure login, requiring a user name and password before you can even get in. Maybe that's on the candy bars, but maybe It will be groups of diffrent names and passwords for each location, each one revealing a diffrent clip. That would make it worth it, and we'd probably end up with 6 or 7 glyphs
Posted by:

August 23, 2006 7:23 PM
I've been lucky with HE and my frags almost always stay in place. *Knock on Wood* *about a million times* But my main beef is how long it takes to load the dumb things. And the fact that you can't arrange them and watch them at the same level.
Posted by:
KJ |
August 23, 2006 7:25 PM
Right before HE.com went live, it had a username and password box.
I think that's there to keep people out until they're ready. But who knows.
LG, have you cleared your cache lately? I believe he.com was updated sometime last week and it's been working fine for me since.
Posted by:
vexingmodstwo |
August 23, 2006 7:26 PM
You could always write the codes down in the order you believe they go in (and maybe even have them available electronically) so that all you have to do is type them in in order, and voila! They'll be there in the order they belong. This would be assuming that it'll be similar to the HE website.

Wow - I was able to read the anagrammed insult as regular words... I must be playing this game too much :)
Posted by:

August 23, 2006 8:05 PM
It is possible that hanso won't be shut down, but the fact that rachel has indicated it may be compromised may be a clue that if we continue to use the HE site (after the whereisalvo site is launched), we may compromise rachel and the whole effort. It's a long shot, and would actually make this game interesting, but seemingly an unlikely scenario.
Posted by:
boo boo kitty |

The way this game has gone in the past, it'll probably still be active, but basically useless, except to "hide" some things, maybe.
Posted by:
boo boo kitty |
August 23, 2006 8:07 PM
First, for those still having problems with HE.com...the trick is to move the fragments to and from the storage ONLY...don't move them from one tile to the next, i.e. take glyph A out of storage put in sequence...then to change it's position, put it back into storage...then back into new plac ein sequence...solved all problems for me. Don't forget to save!
.
.
Second, I think the fact that it is DARK chocolate is significant....it was originally milk chocolate....but has been corrupted over to the DARKSIDE!
Cheers

PostDenial/Lostpedian: People have been talking about whereisalvar.com for DAYS! Vex did not START the buzz over the site, he is simply updating people on what he knows so far. Players of this game have frequently found sites, glyphs, etc. prior to them going live. A blank website spoils nothing. And how the hell do you know that it isn't "supposed" to be discovered until tomorrow? The first Apollo event is TODAY. Stop trying to be a damn know-it-all...you have been proven a know-nothing several times over.
But the bigger question is why you keep coming back? Clearly you hat the site, the admin, the mods and most of the members. So why even bother? Wouldn't your day go better if you just stayed away from the sites and people who antagonize you to such an extent? But that's not how you think, is it? You think pointing out other people's shortcomings makes you look smart and superior. But guess what...people don't like the know-it-alls who actually know what they are talking about. But people who act like know-it-alls without the correct info to back it up (that's you, by the way) are not only disliked, but also LAUGHED AT.

and yes i was referring to the SE US--the closest it comes is KY and TN--what about the great states of georgia and florida, bama, north and south carolina, mississippi and louisiana (both ravaged by katrina--they need the chocolate to feel better). We all need the chocolate!!!
.
maybe i should start a petition to "share the chocolate!"

Hey...
vex asked me to post what (little) I have heard so far about the Park Avenue Country Club thing...
My cousin went down there right before 5:30. She said that they weren't letting people inside without preregistration for the fantasy football event happening at the same time. Seemed like a ritzy restaurant, well dressed people were being let in the VIP entrance. Lady at the front (who is in charge of promotion) didn't seem to know anything about Apollo & Lost promotion, so it's weird. That's all I've heard so far. I registered her name, and she is going to try go to back after she has dinner in the area... that's all.

I'd say ditto what Pandora said, with the exception of the word "ritzy." I've stupidly stopped by the Park Avenue place twice today (once at 11:30, once at 5:30) and neither time were there Apollo bars being handed out. This evening an "ESPN Fantasy Football Draft Pick" special event there, co-sponoserd by Coke Zero, which required registration prior to today, which was when I found out about the Apollo bars (wasn't this place added like yesterday?) so I'm not pre-registered. It's clearly a non-Lost-related event, so either they're going to be giving the bars away to people who don't care about them, or they are giving them out later, or I don't know. Why list a giveaway location that's not open to the public? It seems pretty lame.

Hi. this is for Ms.O whom I know is looking into The Dallas Distribution.
For those of you wanting to attend the Dallas Apollo Bar distribution, I just found on the Dallas Lost experience blog http://lost.beloblog.com/ the following information:
"What: WFAA Channel 8 (ABC affiliate)presents:
ABC's Red Carpet Fall Sneak Preview
When:
September 6th from 7:30 to 10pm
Where:
Granada Theatre
3524 Greenville Ave.
Dallas, TX 75206
Now, here is the IMPORTANT part: you have to WIN tickets to get into the event.
I will be posting the link to win tickets in the next couple of days.
I have also been told that I (me, Doug (mod of the blog)) will be receiving a VERY limited number of APOLLO candy bars prior to the event. Haven't decided if I will eat them, keep them, or give them to my bloggin' pals... HMMMMMM."
So now we know.
Anyone in Dallas want to get together to go should you win tickets?

Actually, I don't think whereisalvar.com will produce just ONE glyph. No sir, this is something else, something much MUCH bigger. Perhaps a whole new film - or, in fact, the location of Alvar.
But really, if you think about it - you should already know where Alvar is, if my theory holds true....... ;)

I live in Necastle in England and have a golden ticket Apollo bar!
I have just submitted my picture with the code, but the code has been rubbed slightly and 2 of the 9 letters/numbers are hard to read!
Waiting for my email from Rachel!
My husband went to Forbidden Planet this morning for me and I haven't been able to get near a computer, so I've only just realised that the golden sticker was something special!!!!

Tonight there is candy giveaway at Marymoor park (Seattle area). I did some research and the event is for previewing the new ABC lineup. I am hoping that the bars will be given away at that event.

I jsut came back from Central Park empty handed :( I stood in the rain for at least one hour looking for someone who knew anything about the distribution. Finaly, I found a Jeep girl who knew what was going on. Several people had asked her the same question. The bars will only be distributed after the concert (approx 10 pm). That's very disappointing :( I don't know if I'll be going back there later on. Does anyone else have stories from Central Park as well?

Ditto what TMBR just posted - I just got back from Central Park, too, and it made me so angry I came on here to post about it (very Comic book Guy, I know). It's really, really rude to say (on Apollocandy.com) that they're giving them away from 6pm to 9pm, when in reality they don't mention that they are really only giving them out at 10pm, meaning if you showed up at the listed time (6pm) you have to wait in the rain for the FOUR FREAKIN' hours at a concert you don't want to go to. I was actually considering going back there at 10pm to try to get one, but the more I think about it, what are the chances they're really going to do give them away then? I'm sure if I went back at 10pm, it would turn out they gave them out at 9:30 or something. This sucks. And blows. It sucks and blows.

The situation is very frustrating!! It sucks and blows indeed! I'm not sure if I'll be heading out there again as it's still raining :(

Hey guys! whereisalvar.com is live! You can post pictures of you and your Apollo Bars. There are instructions from Rachel and she is looking for "Golden Oracle" Bars. When enough Golden bars are found, we will get further instructions. As Rachel says, "You won't wanna miss whaty I have to show you.

WOW...more snafu? No bars in Seattle? And NYC...guys I don't get the giving away after the concert?? Lostnuts one of the Refugees went to Central Park and was in a line at 6:00 with about 30 folks. She said the 'distributer' had no idea what it was about and actually let her look through his bag for a bar with the Oracle! I thought that was pretty decent of him...unfortunately there weren't any.

She did say that all kinds of folks were getting them and just rippin the wrappers off and eating the chocolate not having a clue what it was about! Too bad, how sad! Here we had people waiting for them and other's gettin 'em that couldn't care less :( My heart goes out to any that stood in the rain and missed the boat.

The event in Dallas is also an ABC Sneak Peek or what is referred to in the industry as "Up Front" presentation. I guess I should be happy (those in the other dist. cities should be glad their events are being handled by ABC I think, after the current SNAFU's) BUT I can't believe I have to WIN access to the event which is limited to 400+ folks!
I'm just hoping there won't be a HUGE demand for them here!
Creed...still gonna try? I'd be most happy to meet you and any other playa's, lol! But ya gotta try to get your ticket by RSVPing on WFAA's LOST blog. Give me a holler if you need the url. I'll be checking it shortly as supposed to be up Friday, and well, it IS Friday now, hehe!

The ABC people were beyond apologetic tonight at the Seattle event, as there were many fans there for the bars. To their credit - they made up for it with extra trivia questions that only Lost fans would know (Like Geronomo Jackson being the music on hold when you call the Hanso Foundation)
They asked anyone who was there for a bar to leave contact information and they would try to send them out.
One young lady coordinating the event said "the sad thing is they have our cell phone numbers and kinda left us out to dry with no information."
Great idea for an event though - but sad to see they couldn't pull off the thing that brought many people to the show.

Ms. O' i was thinkin that that problem could be a mighty flaw in this part of the game because the peeps giving out the bars might not give 2 hoots bout the 'code' word and many oracles may go missing :'(
-
Maybe there should have been more instructions with the bar like "you must go to" written in smaller letters above the website on the bar or summin like that.

The Tyson's Corner Mall give away was tied in with the local abc affiliate's meet-and-greet. They ran out fast and I missed the Apollo people all together. But a lingerer was nice enough to give me one of her four candy bars. She didn't know what they were.

So far I've had two failed attempts to get chocolate bars, however, there's another distribution event tomorrow in NY: the 1/2 marathon presented by Nike. Apollo's website is not specific about when the bars will be distributed, all they wrote is "morning". This marathon starts at 7:00am and I sure don't want to be there by 7 and leave empty handed. Does anyone have any more info? Is anyone from here going?

FICTIONALLY, is this new thing sth out of the LostExperience game? I mean... why ApolloCandy (which should be by Hanso's side) has the Rachel Blake name on it? Why the ApolloCandy's bars are supposed to have something inside that will let us know where is Alvar Hanso?
FICTIONALLY its a big mistake, isn't it?

Loads to be had in the UK - could go everyday & have never seen anyone else in the store getting them or paying any interest to the numerous posters. Also, the UK only just saw the 2nd/3rd view of an apollo bar in season 2 & haven't had the time to dwell/wait that the US is having (4+ weeks to finale)
